Remember when.....?
Do any of you remember being young and hating your name? I do. I always wanted to change my name to something more unique and interesting. I, of course, didn't realize all the time, effort, and fights naming me may have caused. Well I got a taste of this the other day when Ian told me he didn't like his name. He wanted to change it. When I asked him what he wanted to change it to he said "Robin" with the biggest smile on his face. When Shane tried telling him that Robin wasn't a very strong name and that Ian was so much better Ian told him how Robin is strong and better because he gets to help Batman fight the bad guys. I guess it could have been worse. He could have wanted to be named Batman.

I never liked my name growing up because it was so different. So was Ian's (my brother). Now, I love them both! I would never change my name. He will grow to love it, especially when he understands where it came from.
