Random Fun

So much has happened since my last post in October. I am so sorry it has taken me so long. Life I guess.

Over spring break we went to see Jason and Jill. We were able to take G'baby with us and the kids had a blast. We were able to enjoy the beach, Ripley's Believe it or not museum, go roller skating and a fan favorite - snorkeling and seeing dolphins. Thanks Jas and Jill.

Ian and Anna have both had Birthdays making them 7 and 4 (yes I am old). Ian got a guitar for his birthday and actually just had his first lesson tonight. He is so excited. You know he is going to be in a rock band some day.

Wrestling and basketball have finished up and we continue in Gymnastics, Dance and now Baseball. Anna's dance recital will be the second weekend in June and this year she is in tap instead of ballet. This should be good. This is her first year in softball and she says she likes it. She reminds me a little of Aunt Kimmie no matter how much I object - you all know what I mean...has to have her hair done, right shoes and look good on the field.

Easter at Grandma Kunkel's was great as always. I love that family can still find time to spend together. It is also neat to see how everyone has grown and lives are changing.

Kids Marathon

Ian wanted to run a race like mom so we signed him up for Fort 4 Fitness Kid's Marathon. He signed up in July and had until September 25 to log 26.2 miles. He started out strong running up to two miles each time we went out. We were able to meet on Saturdays in town with a group of other runners to run and encourage each other. It was a great experience and by the time race day hit, Ian could run a mile and a half at a pretty quick pace.

On race day Ian was ready to go. Just couldn't wait. He wanted to be at the front of the pack to start the race. The gun went off and I thought I was gonna pull something trying to stay with him. WOW! He shot out of there - trying to catch the front pack. This was a 1.2 mile race that he ran like it was a 100 meter race. I tried to explain to him it was a long race and to relax but he looked at me with determination and said "but mom, they're gonna beat me!" If someone ran up beside him to pass he seriously got ticked and sprinted even faster. He finished on home plate of the baseball field with a huge smile and a BRIGHT RED face.

Congrats Ian Scott. You are the best running partner I have had. So strong and determined to do your best no matter what. I look forward to running many more races with you.

Ian has informed me that next year he is running the mini with me. I think I talked him into the 4 mile instead. I think he WOULD do it to. He also wants to try a triathlon. Boy do I have my work cut out for me.

September update

This is what it has come to. Getting my blog updated any way possible. I have been training with Team In Training for one month now and have been blessed to have raised $1,800. I cannot even imagine what LLS can do with this money. BUT - I still have $2,000 to reach my goal in 5 weeks. So, I need you to all think of anyone you can, pass my letter to them and remember every little bit helps.

Other than this Ian has started football and LOVES it. Not only is he still aggressive but this year he actually gets the game. He is dangerous - LOL. He is on the same team as his school buddies Landon and Krue. He is on the Colts Team this year which is not bad...At least we aren't the Cowboys he says.

Anna started school last week. She missed the first day because she was sick but was quick to make up for it. She seems to like it and they haven't kicked her out yet - it's only a matter of time. You all think I am joking but I AM NOT. Just look at that smirk...I mean smile.

Over Labor Day weekend we went to the lake with some friends. The kids had a blast and the parents acted like kids. The "men" took the kids tubing only so they had an excuse to get out there and beat each other up. Not sure why that is still so much fun.

I had a garage sale this weekend and had tons of stuff. I have not gotten rid of anything since I was pregnant with Ian. I did well but have tons left. The kids went through the toys I don't know how many times taking things back into the house and I swear Anna was stalking some shoppers. Thought she was going to give some shoppers her "what for" if they picked up one more of "her" things. Ian was allowed to keep some tools he found.
Not sure what I am forgetting but I will get it in the next time I guess.
